Free radicals, pollutants, toxins and heavy metals are a normal part of our industrial life. We must help our lungs with eating healthy and fresh food which provides our body with powerful antioxidants and detoxifying ingredients.

Detoxifying naturally is very important for all functions in the body.
Our lungs have a lot to work every day.

Aside from the heart, the lungs are a major driver in our live. Therefore, we should support our body.

Possible Benefits of Detoxifying Naturally with Smoothies can be

Natural immune support

Blood Pressure Regulation

Provide our body with detox enzymes, called super oxide dismutase (SOD)

Reduces free radicals

Antioxidant boost

Protects cells from toxins and free radicals

Anti-Inflammation support

Blood and lymphatic system cleansing

Glutathione booster

Best Food Sources for Lung Cleansing

Water, grape, cranberry, ginger, turmeric, avocado, green vegetables, wheat grass or barley grass juice, carrot juice, mango, red raspberry, papaya, orange, apples and juice.

Nutrition Consultation

You must absolutely avoid pork products. Pork meat has high concentration of a fatty acid (arachidonic acid) which causes inflammations. A high concentration of this fatty acid can aggravate your asthma, bronchitis, emphysema and other lung related diseases.

Also it is known a link between citric acid and asthma. If you have asthma and you eat food with citric acid can you have a higher risk to asthma attacks.

Citric acid is an ingredient that’s containing in a lot of processed-foods f.e. instant salad sauce, stock (instant powder), several sweets etc. . Fresh lemon juice is no problem, but citric acid is made from MOLD (fermentation of Aspergillus Niger).

The daily diet should be rich of carotinoides, because it is a great immune support. Some vegetables/fruits cam be an immune support such as carrot, broccoli, tomato, kale, spinach, pumpkin, papaya, goji berry, peach, apricot, melon, green food juice such as wheat grass juice.

Papaya contains the digestive enzyme papain and chymopapain. Papain can be very helpful to treat inflammations (asthma, bronchitis, emphysema) and is great for the immune system. Papaya is a good source of Glutathione as well. Glutathione is helpful to boost lung function.

Melon is rich of the enzyme SOD (super oxid dismutase a detox enzyme). It is to treat of asthma, sinus, allergy, immune system imbalance.

Natural Glutathione Activators for Best Detoxification

Glutathione is number one in the human body as antioxidant. It’s formed from amino acids: glutamic acid, cysteine and glycine. Glutathione can be found in the lungs, liver and intestinal tract.

This substance is important for the lungs and its function/metabolism.
It is known a link between low glutathione level and diseases of the lungs.

Glutathione protects cells from toxins and free radicals. Good sources of Glutathione are watermelon, papaya, orange, zucchini, asparagus and avocado, cinnamon, onion, garlic and broccoli.

Kids all over the world have interest and enjoys ice cream, chocolate and other confections. The most sweets contain a lot of artificial colors, preservatives, artificial sweeteners for example aspartame or further hyper allergenic ingredients.

Also too much sugar is a problem. Americans consumes between 2 to 3 pounds of sugar every week. Sugar is being processed in so many foods which we eat such as sweets, soft drinks, chocolate, ice cream and so on.
Therefore I created several alternatives.

Too Much Rich In Sugar Diet Can Suppress Your Immune System

Your daily nutrition with too much sugar can suppress your immune system (for example, it can reduce the ability of white blood cells to kill germs by 40%!).
This immune-suppressing effect of sugar starts less than thirty minutes after ingestion and may last for five hours. The intestine gut flora and its friendly bacteria are an important part of the immune system and have positive effects on our health. If your daily amount of general sugar is too high, then the bacterial fermentation in the colon may increase and this can weaken your own natural immune power.

Stevia, A Healthier Sugar Substitute

Stevia is available in several forms, e.g. Stevia extract, liquid concentrate (with alcohol base and without alcohol), syrups or powder of dried leaves. I prefer Steviosides. This is a white powdered extract of the sweet glycosides (natural sweetening plant molecules) in the Stevia leaf. In this special form, it is approximately at least 200-300 times sweeter (or higher) than sugar, yet a much healthier and safer option.

Preparation for Natural Sweetener (Homemade Stevia Liquid)

You can have your own fresh natural liquid sweetener (homemade) without any other ingredients and you can have it any time you want.

The preparation is easy.
Add 1 cup boiled water for at least 1 tsp. (or more) dried Stevia rebaudina
leaves steep it for at least 10 minutes. Now filter it out. Let your homemade sweetener liquid cool down and you can add 3 to 5 tsp. or more to sweeten all your recipes.

Other Method You can add a couple of dried or fresh Stevia rebaudina leafes in sweet dips, ice creams or smoothies direct in it. Then mix all together in a blender.

Healthy Sweets from Carob Tree

The carob tree is member of legume family and has been used as food for over 5000 years. Carob grows in Mediterranean areas. The word “carob” comes from Arab kharrub meaning “pod”. Carob is non chocolate, but is known as a popular substitute for chocolate. Carob is naturally sweet and contains no stimulants such as caffeine and theobromine and an ideal sweets for kids.

Carob flour contains about 40 % natural sugar & 41.0 gram dietary fiber and is very good for adding to cakes, spread, muffins, pancakes, pudding (milk, carob powder, natural sweetener and carob seed flour or agar agar), ice cream or as an alternative to hot chocolate. With carob and a bit of “fantasy” you can prepare delicious meals and sweet-snacks.

The colour and flavour of carob vary according to the roasting process. The longer carob is roasted the darker is colour and the blander flavour.
You’ll find carob in the form of dark roast powder and light roast powder, carob bars, carob chips, carob chocolate in variations sweetened and unsweetened.
It can be used for the next birthday party for kids. It is healthy and fun for all kids and family.

Carob flour contains small amounts of vitamins B1, B2, B3, B6 and folate. These B-vitamins are very important for all metabolic processes for example immune system, detoxification, brain function in our body. It is also high in calcium (358 mg/one cup), magnesium (55,6 mg), phosphorus (81,4 mg) and potassium (852 mg).

Crunchy Carob-Flakes

Ingredients

200 g or more carob chocolate
1 to 1 ½ cup flakes or popcorn, unsweetened
if you want you can use ¼ tsp. FOS powder
½ to ¾ cup dried fruits, chopped

Method

Melt the chocolate. Add flakes or popcorn (unsweetened), ¼ tsp. FOS powder and dried fruits. Heap up with a teaspoon some carob confection on back paper or cling film and let it become solid.

Info FOS stands for fructooligosaccharide (also known as Inulin) derived from chicory root and other natural sources of Inulin.

I prefer FOS powder, because it has a strengthening effect on the intestinal barrier and a reduction of potentially pathogenic bacteria in our intestinal system. Fructooligosaccharide taste is comparable to sugar and has a beneficial effect on the immune system.

Fruit-Sticks with Carob

Ingredients

200 gram (or more) carob chocolate f.e. carob chips or carob bars etc.
Some fresh/dried fruits of choice
Shashlik sticks (for our fruit-sticks)
back paper or cling film
if you prefer 1 to 2 tsp. coconut, finely shredded

Method

The best method to melt carob chocolate without any trouble is Bain Marie method: Vessel of hot water in which stew pans are stood to warm.
Melt carob chocolate and mix coconut (or nut flour) together. Then dips every single fruit-stick in it and lay out on back paper or cling film and let it become solid.

Fruit Sticks with Nut Cream and Cocos

Ingrdients

Some fresh/dried fruits f.e. papaya, fig, apple, banana etc.
Shashlik sticks (for our fruit-sticks)
Nut crème f.e. on base of cashews, almonds, hazelnuts
Coconut, finely shredded

Method

Mix raw nut flour of choice with a little water in a blender together till it has “thick” consistence. Give a little water step by step in the blender. This is important for this recipe. If necessary add some raw nut flour.

Then put the nut crème in the refrigerator for at least one hour. Add several fruits on the Shashlik sticks. Brush or coat fruit sticks with a little nut cream. Now roll fruit sticks in finely shredded coconut.

Tips Instead of nut cream you can use pure yoghurt.
Also a nice idea is when you mix some yoghurt and a couple of strawberries in a blender together. Brush or coat fruit sticks with a little yoghurt. Then roll fruit sticks in finely shredded coconut .

Natural Strawberry-Birthday Smoothie

Ingredients (for one cup)

1 cup cold water or stevia liquid (homemade)
6 tsp. raw cashew or almond flour
a few strawberries
a couple of fresh or dried stevia leaves

Method

Mix nut flour and water in a blender.
Let the mixture soak for at least 4 hours or more. Now mix the milk in the
blender again. Filter it out and you have a “white” wonderful milk.
Now mix a few strawberries and stevia in the blender together.

6 tsp. raw hazelnut flour
½ tsp. carob flour
a couple of fresh or dried stevia leaves

Method

Mix hazelnut flour and water together in a blender.
Let the mixture soak for at least 4 hours or more. Add carob flour in it and mix the milk in the blender again.
Filter it out and you have a wonderful milk.

Baked Apple Pan

Ingredients

2 apples
5 simply dried apricots
a small amount of butter
1 to 2 pinch cinnamon powder (knife point; just a trace or more, according to taste)
3 or 4 tsp. nut slices such as hazelnut, walnut, cashew nut
natural sweetener f.e. stevia
A few drops of lemon juice

Method

Cut apples into dices. Melt butter in a pain till hot add apples and roast it with fine dices apricots and the nuts until done. Roast for just few minutes. Add lemon juice, sweetener and cinnamon powder to taste.

Super Crazy Fruit Dips

Mix all ingredients together in the blender. Instead almond flour, you can add raw flour of cashews, macadamia, hazelnut or walnut.

Then cut raw fruits f.e. apple, strawberry, mango or any kind of fruits in halves or sticks and dip these in it and eat.

Papaya Dip

Ingredients

1 to 2 thick slices papaya
½ orange
3 tsp. coconut (fine shredded/flakes)
A few drops lemon juice
Add a small amount of water when mixture is too thick

Berry Dip

Ingredients

½ to ¾ cup berry of choice (or cherries as well)
a few drops lemon juice
a few tsp. raw almond or cashew flour
Add a small amount of water when mixture is too thick

Banana Confection with Hazelnut Fill

Ingredients

Dried banana slices (Banana chips)
Hazelnut cream (homemade)
if you want you can use some carob powder
natural sweetener f.e. Stevia leaf powder or white stevia extract powder

Method

Mix raw hazelnut flour with a little water in a blender together till it has “thick” consistence. Give a little water step by step in the blender. This is important for this recipe. If necessary add some raw hazelnut flour.

Then give the nut cream in the refrigerator at least for 1 hour. Now put some dried banana slices on a plate. On top of any one banana slice add ½ tsp. hazelnut cream and on top add one dried banana slice again.

Tip Instead of hazelnut cream (homemade) you can take any kind of unsweetened nut butter too.

Blueberry Banana Dessert

Ingredients

1 to 2 banana, sliced
½ 1 cup blueberries
¼ to ½ cup pure yoghurt (mixed with some stevia sweetener)
if you want 1 to 2 tsp. freeze-dried acai powder (mixed in the yoghurt)

Method

Put banana slices in a dish form. On top of it add yoghurt and add blueberries too.

Rooibos-Cake with Yoghurt-Orange Filling (Without Oven)

Ingredients

½ litre (2 cups) Rooibos tea
¾ to 1 cup corn semolina
1 cup yoghurt (I prefer 100 % pure, without sweetener)
1 to 1 ½ finely diced orange
¼ to ½ cup chopped nuts of choice (I prefer walnuts, hazelnuts or cashews)
Natural sweetener f.e. Stevia
¼ to ½ tsp. fructooligosaccharide powder

Method

Now bring Rooibos tea to boil. Add natural sweetener and reduce heat until tea is simmering. Take corn meal by the handful and add water slowly. To avoid lump stir quickly with a long handled wooden spoon while adding corn semolina. This mixture must become thick while cooking.

If necessary add one handful semolin. Now add Inulin (FOS) powder to semolina (do not cook it any longer) and stir it gently till you have a
homogeneous mixture. Pour the mixture in a dish (plate) and let it cool completely and cut it into slices.

In separate bowl, mix yoghurt, nuts, orange and natural sweetener together. Then put it in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.

Now put some slices in a gratin form. On top put the yoghurt-orange crème and then put the Rooibos slices again.

Instead of corn semolina you can use semolina of millet, rice or quinoa. Instead of rooibos tea you can take green tea or 1 ½ cups rooibos tea and ½ cup soy milk.

Info Rooibos tea (also known as redbush tea) is completely free from caffeine and ideally good for kids. It contains some minerals and trace elements such as magnesium, potassium, calcium, copper, iron, fluoride, manganese. Rooibos Tea has an anti-allergic effects and it naturally supports the immune system.

Studies have shown that the average 150ml cup of Rooibos Tea contains about 1,4 mg – 1,7 mg Quercetin. This substance supports our immune system.

Strawberry-Birthday Ice Cream

The First Step We make an ice-cream base. Mix ¾ cup or 8 fresh strawberries (cut in halves), some cold Stevia leaf tea or nut milk (or water with a couple of dried Stevia leafes) altogether in a blender. If you want a better consistence, then add some finely shredded/flakes fresh or dried coconut as well and blend. Put the ice cream base in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.

Next Step Now put frozen 12 to 15 (or more) strawberries and some cold ice cream base into a blender and mix altogether (stop & go). Add the ice cream base step-by-step in the blender. Then serve the ice cream.

Add very little cold rest of ice cream base or cold Stevia tea or water, when mixture is not enough creamy or too thick.

Final Step Serve some ice cream in a cup or small bowl and add on top of it are finely chopped fresh strawberries.

Blueberry-Yoghurt Ice Cream

Ingredients

2 cups blueberries (deep-freezed)
a little cold pure yoghurt (½ cup or more)
Natural sweetener such as Stevia extract

Method

Put frozen berries, cold yoghurt, natural sweetener into a blender and mix altogether (stop & go).

Add the yoghurt step-by-step in the blender and mix all together.
Add little cold yoghurt when mixture is not creamy or too thick enough.
All ingredients are alkaline. Instead of yoghurt you can use buttermilk, soy milk, nut milk.

Antioxidants play a vital role in our body functions. The known antioxidants in the human body are vitamins A, carotinoids, E & C. However, trace minerals like molybdenum, manganese, selenium and the amino acid-complex l-Glutathione or the enzyme super oxid dismutase (SOD) are also important for us. Free radicals, which are special molecules reduces the antioxidant potential in the body. Stress can cause lowered antioxidants level. Now you could try to avoid always all kind of negative stress for the rest of your life! Okay but this is not a good deal because stress is a normal part of our life. But we can take certainly antioxidants dietary supplements and we can eat antioxidant-rich foods to keep their levels at optimum levels. Antioxidants are vital as they minimize stress-induced damages, keep our body’s cells healthy and help us lead a better life under stressful conditions.

Which Diseases have a Link to Low Antioxidants?

All stress-induced diseases

Complications at diabetes mellitus (f.e. diabetic neuropathy or diabetic cataract)

Liver damage & liver diseases

Macula-degeneracy

Inflammations

Cardiovascular diseases

Pains

Cancer

Allergies

Environmental-induced diseases

Arthritis

An Antioxidant Rich Diet can be good for High Blood Pressure

High levels on toxins in the body cause oxidative stress. This kind of stress reduces the levels of antioxidative substances. These are very important for neutralizing toxins f.e. heavy metals. Heavy metals such as lead, mercury or cadmium can cause elevated blood pressure.
Learn more about high blood pressure and Pomegranate: http://www.healthrecipes.ws/featured/pomegranate-bloodpressure-heart

What Contains these Heavy Metals?

Heavy metals are contained in so many products of our daily life. Here is a little list of them.

Lead cigarette smoke, cosmetics, battery manufacturing, household dust, pesticides.

Mercury cosmetics, soft contact lens solution, some industry manufactured sea foods f.e. tuna.

Cadmium pesticides, some sea foods, instant coffee, cigarette smoke, environmental pollutants, airborne industrial contaminants, batteries.

Best Antioxidant Foods

Food Sources of Beta-Cryptoxanthin Grape fruit, peaches, watermelon, oranges, papaya, nectarines, mangoes, apricots, pumpkin, squash, paprika, carrot, dandelion greens, fresh basil.

Food Sources of Super oxid dismutase Melon, green vegetables, cabbage, broccoli, barley grass, wheat grass, brussels sprouts.

Food Sources of Antioxidative Ingredients Garlic, papaya, mango, orange, pumpkin, carrots, aubergine, olive fruits, culinary herb rosemary, all dark green vegetables f.e. broccoli, all fresh and dried fruits, red grape, citrus fruits, berries, pomegranate.

Food Sources of Chlorophyll Green salads, green vegetables, fresh and dried wheat grass, barley grass, Kamut grass, broccoli, brussel sprouts, lettuce, spinach, algae, parsley, nettle.

Food Sources of Glutathion onion, shallot, any kind of onions, garlic, wild garlic leafes, Rooibos tea, papaya, avocado, broccoli, zucchini, grape fruit, peaches, watermelon and oranges.

Food Sources of Quercetin apples, oranges, lemons, limes, green tea, Rooibos tea, and onions, nuts, with smaller amounts in green vegetables, rosemary.

Food Sources of Resveratrol Grapes, grape juice, berries f.e. blueberries, bilberries. In grapes, resveratrol is found only in the skins .

Special Antioxidant Power Foods

Mangosteen It is grown f.e. in Asia or Puerto Rico. This tropical fruit contains powerful antioxidants and has many benefits for our generally health. Xanthones are the base active substances of the Mangosteen fruit. But also it contains polysaccharides, proanthocyanidins, sterols (f.e. stress reducing) and catechins (to treat an allergy). Xanthones may help neutralize free radicals (this molecules reduces the antioxidants), support the immune system and maintain intestinal health, maintaining an optimum stress-balance.

Goji berries These are important to support a healthy immune system (i.a. for stress balance) and intercellular communication too. These berries contain unique compounds known as Lycium barbarum polysaccharides such as rhamnose, xylose, glucose, mannose, arabinose & galactose.
The Goji berry contains a big spectrum of healthy substances such as carotinoides (alpha-carotene, beta-carotene, Luteine, Zeaxantene), polyphenenole, vitamins f.e. some B, C, minerals and trace minerals i.a. molybdenum and manganese. Also the enzyme super oxid dismutase is found in the Goji berry.

Acai It is a fruit that grows on the Acai palm Trees in the Amazon Rainforest of Brazil and his antioxidant power is 10 times higher as red grapes and twice that of blueberries. Acai is a powerful antioxidant (Anthocyanosides) and immune-support (immune-stress-balance). Add freeze dried Acai powder for your breakfast in yoghurt or pan cake mixture and have in the morning an “antioxidant kick”.

Blueberries have high antioxidants called anthocyanidins & ellagic acid, both neutralize free radicals. Blueberries have cardio protective effect, improve the brain function, may reduce LDL cholesterol and protection against macular degeneration. In cases of toxin-induced diseases.

Rooibos Tea It contains the enzyme super oxide dismutase, which is a powerful antioxidant and has effects to detoxification. This tea comes from South Africa and promotes the reduction of environmental toxins and pollutants. All these may be possible stressors/stress factors. Rooibos tea has a caffeine free base and contains some minerals and trace minerals such as magnesium, zinc, manganese and iron.
Learn more about healthy recipes with rooibos tea: http://www.healthrecipes.ws/recipe/juicebeverage/recipes-on-rooibos-tea

Green Tea and his active ingredients are polyphenols/epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG). The antioxidant power of this compound is over 25 to 100 times more potent as vitamins C and E. I recommend green tea extract, manufactured caffeine free (f.e. with 95 % polyphenols/70 % EGCG) most in combinations with other antioxidants.

Natural Glutathione Activators

Glutathione is the number one in the human body as antioxidant. Its formed from amino acids glutamic acid, cysteine and glycine. In the body Glutathione is found in the lungs, liver and intestinal tract. Glutathione protects cells from toxins and free radicals.

Ginkgo Biloba It is known in the traditional medicine to treat circulatory disorders and enhance memory. Ginkgo leafes contain flavonoids and terpenoids, which have antioxidant properties. Ginkgo may also reduce high Cortisol level and is helpful to treat chronic stress.

Milk thistle Silymarin is the key active compound in milk thistle. This substance can increase Glutathione production in the liver by around 30 %. Silymarin also increases the activity of SOD/super oxid dismutase in red and white blood cells. Silymarin is ideal to support environmental-induced stress by f.e. heavy metals, toxins, pollutants and pesticides.

Alpha-Liponic Acid is a powerful antioxidant, which helps to increase Glutathione. I recommend R (+) Alpha-Liponic acid for stress-induced high copper level in serum/blood or in cases of high Cortisol (at least 100 mg/day).Some manufactures for dietary supplements have a combination with alpha-Liponic acid, Silymarin and Glutathione, reduced or other powerful antioxidants. It also prevents complications of diabetics f.e. Neuropathy.

Avocado-Orange Salad

This salad creation is very simple, but it is a good source of the powerful antioxidant glutathione.

Ingredients

1 ripe avocado, finely sliced

1 orange, diced

Dressing

¼ cup pure yoghurt

A pinch of Himalayan or sea salt

If you prefer, pepper to taste

a few slices lemongrass, very finely chopped

Method

Mix all dressing ingredients in a blender, blend till smooth. Add them over the salad base.

Antioxidant Power Drink

Ingredients (for one cup)

1 cup cold green tea

6 tsp. almond raw nut flour

2 tsp. freeze dried acai powder

a few leaves dried stevia

Method

Mix nut flour, stevia and green tea together in a blender.
Let the mixture soak for at least 4 hours or more. Now mix the milk in the blender again. Add the acai powder and mix it in a blender.

Our immune system is a very important “control center” of stress. In case of too much stress (or/and low stress resistance), we can be sure that our immune system is down. The hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis is the middle point of stress. Ours immune system watches & guides this axis. It is our own protecting wall (guard wall) against viruses, bacteria and parasites and any other enemy that our body may assault. Support your own immune system and it will do some thing for your health it
increases strengthens your protecting wall.

Medicinal Properties of Mushrooms

Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum) It is also known as Ling Zhi in china. Reishi is the oldest mushroom which is used as medicine. It belongs traditionally to Japan & China and it was discovered over 2.000 years ago. All natural substances such as polysaccharides i.a. arabinogalactan, triterpeniods and amino acids have positive effects for our healthy. Reishi is known as immune modulator (it regulates and fine tunes the immune system). I recommend the Reishi to treatment of some allergies, high blood pressure, bronchitis, asthma, heart-stress. As ACE-inhibitor, without any side effects too.

Coriolus (Coriolus versicolor) This mushroom helps to boost the immune system. Standardized coriolus contains a concentration of polysaccharides including beta-1,3, beta-1,4 and beta-1,6 glucans. Over 400 clinical studies show the amazing effects of Coriolus versicolor on the immune system. I recommend Coriolus for natural immune-stress support it prevents some infections and cancer (reducing side effects by chemo-medical drugs).

ABM (Agaricus Blazei Murill) It has an important immunological effects for us. The ABM mushroom was tested at the Tokyo University National Center, Center Laboratory and the Tokyo College of Pharmacy. This mushroom contains effective vital substances such as polysaccharides both beta-1,3 glucan and beta-1,6 glucan, ribonucleic acid protein compounds, lectin, etc. . it enhances the activity of macrophage and this significantly activated our immune system.

Prebiotic Intestinal Support for your Immune System

Inulin stands for fructooligosaccharide (FOS) derived from chicory root and other natural sources of inulin. Inulin helps to maintain a healthy intestinal mucous membrane. It has a strengthening effect on the intestinal barrier and a reduction in potentially pathogenic bacteria in our intestinal system. Fructooligosaccharide taste is comparable to sugar and has a beneficial effect on the immune system. I give (two or three pinch/knife point) inulin to yoghurt, fruit shakes/smoothies, sweet pancake or ideal for fruit salad.

Natural Power for your Immune System

Arabinogalactan It is a fiber found in high concentrations in north american larch trees. Research conducted at the University of Minnesota revelated that Arabinogalactan stimulated immune cells with a higher intensity than Echinacea plant. Arabinogalactan (also known as “healthy sugar”) is a water-soluble polysaccharide to support generally immune system function and the immune-stress-balance. The micro flora healthy-balance in the GI-tract too. It promotes the growth of probiotic bacteria such as lactobacilli & bifid bacteria in the intestines, which are important for GI-tract health. I recommend a dietary supplement of arabinogalactan standardized to f.e. 85 % or 98 % arabinogalactan from larch. Arabinogalactan is for me an ideal option in treatment of chronic (short term) stress. I recommend this in combination with vitamin B2 (50 mg to 100 mg/day) and lycopene (at least 10 mg/day).

AHCC It stands for Active Hexose Correlated Compound is a proprietary extract produced from specially cultivated and hybridised mushrooms. AHCC supports Defense mechanism of body function through its effects on macrophages and NK cells (Natural Killer Cells). Stress can affect the immune system in several ways such as reduced neutrophil activity, cytotoxic T-lymphocytes and natural killer cell activities (NK-Cells).

Betaglucan This is a natural food-based dietary supplement purified from the cell wall of baker’s yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae). Betaglucan is for me the best or most favourable natural dietary supplement for detoxification and the patients have a real chance for a better life quality & health conditions. Betaglucan operates as immunmodulator and at the same time is a good antioxidant. But the purified quality must be at least 75 %. That is very important for good effect.

Food and Tea For Your Daily Immune Support

Thyme

Oregano

Ginger

Dried mushroom maitake (f.e. combination with beaten rice or vegetable)

Fresh papaya, dried papaya and fresh-pressed juice

Fresh pineapple, dried pineapple and fresh-pressed juice</li.

Smoothie & Juice Ideas for a Great Immune Support

Ingredients

1 thick slice papaya (it is a good source of papain)

Nuts and seeds are small but contains important minerals f.e. magnesium, manganese, potassium some vitamins and good fats for our healthy.
Cashew nuts, macadamia or walnuts taste good as snacks between meals or roasted in a frying pan without oil/fat.
Nuts are ideal as a little snack (to boost energy) or as an ingredient in green salad, Belgian endive/chicory or to fruit salad.

How can help you nuts for a healthy boost ?

Nuts such as walnuts, cashew nuts, almonds and peanuts are helpful to lower heart/cardiovascular disease risk, according to the researchers of Harvard Medical School and Harvard School of Public Health, Boston.

I recommend nuts generally to highly carbohydrate foods. Then the most nuts are low glycemic (no sweet chestnut) and can reduce high level in sugar and other carbohydrates in your daily nutrition.

Nuts f.e. hazelnut, almond sweet or brazil nut contain a good portion of magnesium. This mineral protects cells from aluminium, mercury, lead and cadmium. Magnesium protects the brain from toxic effects of chemicals. Magnesium is an important activator of many enzymes requiring ATP, the main energy releasing agent of the body. Energy is essential for all functions such as heart, central and peripheral nervous system in ones life.

Nuts such as hazelnuts, almonds sweet are rich of arginine. This amino acid is helpful in acute stress phases and stimulates the immune system to increase the output of T-lymphocytes (T-cells) from thymus gland. Peanuts contains the highest level of arginine. It also may play a important role in preventing heart disease.

Peanuts are a good source of coenzyme Q10 and contains resveratrol.

Sweet chestnuts (Marrons) are high in natural sugar and starch. Marrons are gluten free and have minerals and some vitamins.

Nuts have vitamin E. This acts as a powerful antioxidant of neutralizing free radicals. It also has vitamin E which enhances glutathione levels and it is important for better magnesium and zinc levels in the body.

Nuts have good fat for brain function, increase learning ability, cholesterol regulation.

Cashew & Walnuts and Healthy Benefits

The botanical name from cashew is known as Anacardium occidentale and it is a bean shaped nut. In the traditional healing from Indian medicine, cashew nuts are known as a help for hyperacidity, gastritic and peptic ulcers.
Cashew nuts, like all nuts, are an excellent source of protein. Cashew nuts are good source of potassium, B vitamins f.e. B1, B2, niacin. They contain useful amounts of magnesium (267 mg/100 g), phosphorous (373 mg), selenium, copper, zinc (2.09 mg) and iron (2.80 mg).
The walnut is good for our nutrition. Cashew nuts lowers bad (LDL) cholesterol and increases the good (HDL) cholesterol. These nuts increases the general elasticity of arteries and lowers the level of C-reactive protein. This is a marker of inflammation associated with arteriosclerosis and heart disease. Walnuts have potassium, magnesium, calcium, manganese, iron, some B-vitamins, vitamin E and more zinc as copper.
Walnuts are a good source of the powerful antioxidant called, glutathione.
Glutathione is a great detoxification substance for the liver and it is build-up from amino acids glutamic acid, cysteine and glycine.
In the body, glutathione is found in the lungs, liver and intestinal tract. Glutathione protects cells from toxins, heavy metals, pollutants and pesticides. The walnut is good for people with a high copper level in blood/serum (hypercupriemia).
Patients with viral diseases from type herpes such as Epstein-Barr-Virus, Mononucleosis, Shingles can benefit of a diet high in lysine and low in arginine. Nuts contain a lot of arginine.

Why do I like cooking with Sunflower Seed Butter ?

Sunflower seed butter is ideal for salted and spicy or sweet salads, gratin/baked dish or as sandwich or dip base. Sunflower seed butter contains minerals such as magnesium, potassium, iron, vitamin B1, E and linoleic acid. This fat acid is important for functions of metabolic such as brain, skin, membranes and healthy communication between cells.
Precaution: If you have cancer please avoid sunflower seed butter because this can increase the risk of building metastasis.

Preparation for Raw Nut Flour

Method

You can have your own fresh and raw nut
flour without any other ingredients any time you want.
You grind up the nuts f.e. cashews with a grind mill or coffee
mill by electricity or manual operation.

Natural Nut Milk

Ingredients (for one cup)

250 ml cold water
6 tsp. raw nut flour of choice

Method

Mix nut flour and water together in a blender.
Let the mixture soak for at least 4 hours or more. Now mix the milk in the blender again. Filter it out and you have a “white” wonderful milk.

Quinoa Salad with Orange, Salmon Filet and Walnuts

Ingredients

2 to 3 cups cooked Quinoa

1 Orange diced

½ cup orange juice

½ to ¾ cup 100 % pure yoghurt

A few squirts of lemon juice

1 tsp. cold pressed walnut oil or flax oil

200-250 g salmon filet roasted in a small amount of butter & thick diced (let it cool completely)

2 to 3 tsp. sunflower seed “butter” (100 % pure)

at least 15 walnuts, chopped

Sea or himalayan salt

Method

Cooked Quinoa in a bowl add diced orange & orange juice, yoghurt lemon squirts sunflower seed “butter”, roasted salmon filet thick diced and walnuts. Mix together add salt and little oil and put it in refrigerator and serve it after a while.

Quinoa-Papaya Salad with Cheese and Cashew Nuts

Ingredients

2 to 3 cups cooked Quinoa

80-100 g goats cheese or other cheese of choice

if you prefer 1 cooked egg

if you prefer 1 Pear

½ to ¾ cup 100 % pure yoghurt

3 tsp. Sunflower seed “butter” (100 % pure)

¼ to ½ papaya

½ cup orange juice

15 to 20 cashew nuts or macadamia nuts, chopped

1 tsp. cold-pressed flax seed oil

Sea or himalayan salt

Method

In a bowl mix all ingredients together.
Put it in refrigerator. It tastes very good after 1 to 2 hours.
Comment: Instead of sunflower seed butter you can use cashews butter or my nut cream.

An Alternative to Nut butter

Natural Nut Cream

Ingredients

Raw nut flour of choice
some cold water

Method

Mix raw nut flour of choice with a little water in a blender
together till it has “thick” consistence. Give a little water step by
step in the blender. This is very important for this recipe. If
necessary add some raw nut flour.
Then give the nut crème in the refrigerator at least for 1 hour.

Avocado Nut Dip

Ingredients

½ avocado, diced

5 to 8 tsp. raw nut flour of choice

some water (+- 1/8 cup)

himalayan or sea salt

Method

Mix all ingredients in a blender together.
In a small bowl serve it and dip several vegetables such as
celery, carrot, cocktail tomatoes, zucchini/squash and so on.

Our world has many “Healthy Foods” we must discover them and with a bit of fantasy we can prepare delicious cooking.
The base of “Functional Cooking” is very simple. These recipes have some “healing” properties and the best synergetic effects, but it must be tasty and delicious as well. I created these recipes exclusive for the company GetHealthyAgain, located in Homer, Alaska.

Millet Salad with Rosa Grapefruit and Salmon Filet

Ingredients:

2 to 3 cups cooked millet (or Quinoa)

½ diced Rosa Grapefruit

½ to ¾ cup 100 % pure yoghurt

1 tsp. cold-pressed safflower oil/thistle oil

200-250 g salmon filet roasted in hot safflower oil and ¼ to ½ tsp. lemon grass (very fine chopped) & then thick diced (let it cool completely)

2 to 3 tsp. sunflower seed “butter” (100 % pure)

Sea or himalayan salt

Method:
Cooked millet in a bowl add diced Rosa grapefruit, yoghurt, sunflower seed “butter”, roasted salmon filet (in a amount of butter) thick diced and some cold-pressed safflower oil/thistle oil. Mix together and put it in refrigerator and serve it after a while.
I prefer Sunflower seed butter as mayonnaise substitute. You may add more natural yoghurt as alternate to sunflower seed butter.

Functional Cooking Features

Lemongrass has antifungal properties and can be helpful for Candida albicans, Candida pseudotropicalis and Aspergillus fumigatus. Millet is an alkaline grain. Alkaline foods are helpful for metabolic, immune system and intestinal gut flora.

Grapefruit contain a natural soluble fiber, called pectin and this binds to environmental toxins in the body. Pectin is helpful to bind Mykotoxine as well. Cold-pressed safflower oil/thistle oil is known to have antifungal properties and can have good effects similar to caprylate. Caprylate is similar to chemical antifungal drug Nystatin, but without possible side effects. Add cold-pressed safflower oil/thistle oil to salad, vegetable and all your meals.

Zucchini Back Dish with Chicken Strips and Mozzarella

Ingredients:

4 little zucchini/squash

vegetable oil f.e. safflower/thistle oil

2 to 3 cups cooked Quinoa

1 to 2 young chicken breast

1 Mozzarella

Method:

Cut 4 little zucchini/squash in slices long side and roast them light both sides in some butter add a pinch of sea or himalayan salt.
Cut young chicken breast into strips. Roast the strips in the butter. Roast for just a few minutes. salt to taste with sea salt or himalayan salt.
Grease a back dish with some butter lay zucchini in it on the top of it the already 2 to 3 cups cooked Quinoa, then on the top of it the roasted chicken strips and greated mozzarella slices. Back mixture in the oven 10 to 15 minutes by 180 °C. You can make this zucchini back dish without chicken strips as well.

Functional Cooking Features

Zucchini contains some carotinoides with vitamin A-activity such as alpha-carotene, beta-carotene, cryptoxanthin and vitamin C. Quinoa is gluten free and is a good source of manganese, iron and magnesium. You can add 1 to 2 raw fine shredded sun chokes instead of chicken strips for this recipe, then it has more alkaline properties.

Sun Choke/Jerusalem Artichoke Crème Soup

Ingredients:

4 to 6 little sun chokes with peel (cut to dices with peel)

1 shallot (fine chopped)

1 to 2 cups soy milk or oat milk (without any sugar)

½ litre vegetable soup in powder form (f.e. instant, without glutamate, yeast etc.)

an amount of butter

Method:

Roast shallot in some butter. Now add sun chokes roast in it. Roast for just 1 minute. Add soy milk, oat milk or only water, vegetable soup (instant) and/or salt to taste. Let it cook for 20 to 25 minutes. Now add the cold-pressed safflower/thistle oil. Then mix this soup in the blender.
Possible alternate to sun choke/jerusalem artichoke may be 2 little zucchini/squash or f.e. 1 to 1 ½ cups chopped broccoli as well. Then is the cook time 10 to 15 minutes. You can add also 2 to 3 slices garlic to taste.

Functional Cooking Features

Inulin stands for fructooligosaccharide (FOS) and sun chokes have plenty of it. Inulin is a carbohydrate linked with good intestinal health due to its prebiotic properties.

Inulin helps to maintain a healthy intestinal mucous membrane. Inulin has a strengthening effect on the intestinal barrier and a reduction of potentially pathogenic bacteria in our intestinal system. Fructooligosaccharide has a beneficial effect on the immune system. However the sun choke is low glycemic and perfect for a acid-alkaline balance. Soy milk is alkaline and low glycemic as well. Shallot has sulphur components and the flavonoid quercitin. These substances promote detoxification and boost immune system.

Raspberry Black Ice Cream (without ice)

1 to 1 ½ Cup raspberries (deep-freezed)

¾ to 1 Cup Pau d`arco tea (together with ½ to 1 tsp. finely chopped fresh lemon grass)

¼ tsp. FOS/Inulin powder

Natural sweetener f.e. Stevia extract or Xylitol

Method:

Put frozen raspberries black cold-Pau d`arco-lemon grass tea-mix, ¼ tsp. Inulin powder and a trace of natural sweetener f.e. Stevia extract or Xylitol into a blender/food-processor and mix altogether (stop & go). Add the Pau d`Arco-lemon grass tea-mix step-by-step in the blender.

Add very little Pau d`arco-lemon grass-combination, when mixture is not enough creamy or too thick.
This ice cream composition may be very variable. You can add only f.e. tea from dried or fresh lemon grass or you add in the cold tea Proprietary Native Whey Protein Concentrate to natural immune support. Or you can add cold Goji Berry tea as base. Preparation of Goji Berry Tea: 1 cup boiling water for 2 tsp. dried Goji berries steep it for at least 20 minutes.

You can add in cold tea 1 to 2 tsp. yoghurt powder (or fresh natural yoghurt) or 1 to 2 tsp. goat powder or 1 to 2 tsp. Colostrum 100 % pure powder.
Have a bit of “fantasy” – this is the best cook of the world.

Functional Cooking Features

Xylitol has a function as natural sweetener, but also it is antifungal and inhibits Candida yeast. Lemon grass has antifungal properties and may be helpful for Candida albicans, Candida pseudotropicalis and Aspergillus fumigatus. Pau d`arco tea is a natural anti-mycoticum and helpful for a healthy acid-alkaline balance as well.
